COVID-19 update. With contact-free arrival, guests can easily keep to social distancing rules in the Shropshire Hills. Please contact us for details of small changes we have made to meet UK government guidelines.

Set 1000 feet above sea level on the hillside in a quiet lane with nearby open heath land which has great views with very many footpaths in all directions starting from the garden gate. The detached 3 bedroom stone & brick cottage is typical of the area & was originally built around 1853. There are 2 double bedrooms and 1 twin bedroom. Short notice lets available - details on our website

There is BT fibre Wi-Fi, TV with DVD/Blu-Ray and NOW TV's SKY movies in the 23ft lounge and also TV in each of the bedrooms. The kitchen has an electric fan oven and ceramic hob, fridge/freezer, wine cooler, dishwasher, washer/dryer with ample crockery and cutlery.

Original parts of the cottage are of stone and brick leaving curious shelves and ledges inside. Beamed ceilings and wood burning fires add to the character of the cottage.

Bedroom 1 overlooks the lane and has a Victorian style double bed made by the Original Bedstead Company. It is equipped with bedside cabinets, a fitted wardrobe and TV. Bedroom 2 is a double room equipped with bedside cabinets, fitted wardrobe Victorian style bed and TV. Bedroom 3 is a twin room overlooking the garden and meadow behind the cottage. The twin beds are of Victorian style. There is a vaulted ceiling, bedside cabinets, wardrobe and TV. All rooms have electric central heating.

Footpaths from the garden gate take many routes across hills, countryside and forest. See the aerial picture taken by guest Mr Vernon Read during his holiday at the cottage. The cottage is in the lower left corner of the picture.

Ludlow is famous for its fine food shops, market, restaurants, picturesque castle and Elizabethan style black and white buildings. Nearby are Stokesay Castle, Berrington Hall (NT), Croft Castle (NT), Blists Hill Victorian Museum at Ironbridge, Acton Scott working farm museum, West Midland Safari Park, The Long Mynd (NT), Severn Valley Railway, Go Ape & Morgan Motor Company

Strictly no smoking and no pets accepted in the interests of allergy sufferers. We have fireguards but steep stairs and low 1st floor windows may make this cottage unsuitable for young children or those with limited mobility. Please contact us for details. The bathroom is on the ground floor.

There is small secluded garden with lawn and wood store. Garden seats are available during the summer season. Careful parking needed for 2 average cars. We cannot accept guests bringing more than 2 cars.

Normal arrival time is 4.00 PM to allow us to prepare for your visit and departure needs to be at 10.00 AM to allow us to prepare for further guests but we will try to be flexible where possible.
