This cottage is Grade II listed and is one of the earliest buildings in the conservation area of Chewton Common, nr Christchurch. It was the school for waifs and strays in Victorian times. The living/dining room has exposed beams and large fireplace with a wood-burner.There is also central heating throughout. The kitchen units are hand-built in old pine and the downstairs bathroom has a free-standing Victorian bath with shower attachment. There are two bedrooms - one double and a twin room adjacent to this. An enclosed cottage garden, with open lawn, garden table and chairs, is for use of guests. There is a parking space for guest's car on the large off road private drive.
A walk of half a mile (5/10 minutes) along a wooded footpath by a stream through Chewton Bunny , takes you to the sea and sandy beaches. There is a magnificent panoramic view of the Needles and Isle of Wight from the cliff top where you will find a cafe/restaurant.
Mudeford is a few miles walk along the beach.
The New Forest (cycling, walking, and riding) is approx. 2 miles.
The cottage is situated 5 minutes walk from James Martin's new restaurant and cookery school.
Highcliffe high street is just 5 minutes walk where there are plenty of eating places, a decent deli, banks, Co-op and a Post Office. Christchurch and the nearby Forest also have a wealth of great pubs and restaurants. Less than 10 minutes drive to Milford gets you to one of the best fish restaurants on the Hampshire/Dorset Coast.
