This tranquil property offers 1 double, 1 family & 2 twin bedrooms
Watersedge is an idyllic white thatched cottage in a peaceful location with stunning uninterrupted views over Hickling Broad in Norfolk, England. The cottage was built 300 years ago and still retains lots of the character you would expect including low doorways and the old bread oven in the cloakroom. In recent years a sympathetic renovation has been carried out during which the kitchen and bath/shower rooms have been modernised, central heating has been installed and Wi-Fi is now available throughout the whole property.
The downstairs accommodation comprises of a large sitting room, a separate dining room, kitchen, utility, large hallway and a shower room. Upstairs there are four bedrooms – a master with a king size bed, a further double bedroom with an additional single bed in it, and two further twin bedrooms. In addition to these there is also a modern family bathroom and separate toilet.
Outside there is a large garden to the front of the cottage where you can continue to enjoy the views over the broad. There is a large garage which contains a table tennis table,4 mountain bikes and oars for the rowing boat which are all available for guests to use Free of charge. Further sports equipment, garden furniture and a barbeque are available from the thatched summer house in the garden. In front of the garage is a large gated driveway with parking for 3 cars.
Within the village of Hickling there are two lovely local pubs, The Grey Hound and The Pleasure Boat. Both serve good food and drink and are just a short walk or row away.
Hickling Broad is a European Nature Reserve, so if you enjoy bird watching or walking through beautiful countryside this is an ideal location. Most wildlife can be spotted from Watersedge or you can visit the Norfolk Wildlife Trust reserve which is just a short walk away. Also nearby are the beaches at Sea Palling or Waxham which are renowned for their grey seal colony.
If you are interested in the history of the broads there are some local museums you can visit in addition to a number of National Trust properties including Horsey Mill. Norwich and Great Yarmouth are only 12 miles away.
If you are looking for something a little more energetic to do the broads are a great place to enjoy some water sports including sailing, rowing, kayaking, canoeing, windsurfing or paddleboarding. Alternatively you could rent a motor launch from Whispering Reads or go fishing.
Linen and towels are included. Electricity and heating included. Short breaks available (minimum of three nights) during the low and mid-season - please ring the owner for charges and information.
