Bentwitchen Cottage is an authentically converted barn, with stone walls and wooden beams, set in the tiny hamlet of Bentwitchen just within the boundary of Exmoor National Park and in a rustic setting. The accommodation is for 6 guests. Downstairs are three double bedrooms, each with ensuite facilities. The main bedroom has an ensuite bathroom as well as a shower and there is an additional separate WC on the ground floor. The dressing room attached to the third bedroom can also be used as a single room. Upstairs is open plan with a balcony. Here the accommodation consists of a living room with wood burning stove for cosy winter nights or chilly summer evenings, kitchen and dining room. The living room has a TV, CD player and radio. The kitchen has an Aga, a Butler's sink and dishwasher, washing machine and microwave. There is also an additional
two ring hot plate. A welcome pack and the first basket of logs are provided. Downstairs there is
under floor heating. Heating, linen and towels are provided within the price. Outside there is a patio for guests to use, a shared garden with stile down to the stream and parking for three cars. A car is essential.
The area is one of outstanding natural beauty good for walking, cycling, riding and star gazing. The market towns of Barnstaple and South Molton are not far away as well as the beautiful beaches of Saunton, Croyde and Woolacombe, all excellent for surfing and about half hour to forty minutes drive. Lynton, Lynmouth and the Valley of Rocks are also great places to visit. A unique local pub, the Poltimore Arms, is about one mile from the property.
Our prices are shown as weekly but we are happy to take shorter breaks. We charge 70% of the weekly cost for any number of nights up to 4, 80% for 5 and so on. Changeover day is Saturday in high season, but we are flexible at other times of the year. Arrival time is 4pm and we ask guests to leave by 10am on their day of departure. Unfortunately we cannot take pets or
children under 8, although we are happy to consider children who are nearly 8. Babes in arms are
welcome as long as they are not crawling.
