A restored Victorian cottage in a quiet village street.
In 1867, or thereabouts, a one-up one-down cottage was tacked on to the side of a stable and its hayloft. In 2002 we renovated these properties to make a spacious, warm and comfortable cottage that is perfect for a couple but can accommodate four at a push!
On the ground floor is the entrance hall leading to the kitchen and dining area with a bathroom at the side. Upstairs is a comfortable double bedroom and the hayloft area has become a sitting room which overlooks the garden and views of the village towards the Church.
The kitchen is fully equipped for four, but visitors have been known to entertain additional guests for Christmas dinner and other occasions! There is a fridge and a separate freezer, an electric oven with a gas hob, a dishwasher and a microwave. There is a small utility room with a new( 2016) washer /dryer, iron and ironing board, and there is a clothesline in the garden.
The bedroom upstairs has 5 ft bed and the bed linen is all Egyptian cotton. Leading off the bedroom is a toilet and washbasin.
The bathroom downstairs has a large bath with shower, and the usual toilet and washbasin.
The sitting room has seats for five adults and a small writing desk in the corner. It also has two folding beds tucked into another corner. There are the usual entertainments in this room - TV, DVD player, radio, ipod dock, books, DVDs, jigsaws, board and card games and a few children's toys. A Wifi booster gives reasonable coverage from our home-based BT hub.
The premises are not suitable for small children because the staircase is open on one side. We are unable to accommodate pets, and we have a no smoking policy.
Our visitors have access to a garden which is shared with the owner's family and is equipped with garden furniture in the summer months.
There is off-road parking available but most people use the village street which has unrestricted parking. There is a small newsagent/shop and a thriving village pub close by which serves food. There are also three other pub/restaurants within easy walking distance.
There are several golf Clubs in the area; many National Trust properties nearby; frequent buses to Oxford and Banbury, and rail links from Banbury Station. Blenheim Palace is just a 20 minute drive, and the nearest Oxford Park and Ride is 25 minutes away.
