Woodlands Family Theme Park, near Dartmouth, is an absolute must if you have children; it has watercoasters, toboggan run, falconry centre, zoo-farm, white-knuckle swing ship ride and the biggest indoor venture centre in the UK. Plymouth has all the usual attractions of a large city, including the Drake Circus Shopping Centre and the National Marine Aquarium, which is home to sharks!
About 15 miles away is Dartmoor National Park with its brooding tors and dry stone walls. Even closer are lovely walks along the South West Coast Path or through picturesque little villages. In addition, there is the South Devon Railway - a steam train ride by the River Dart & station museums and Saltram House & Gardens, which is a superb National Trust property.
