One mile from Kintbury, south facing
The Forbury is an extended C17th cottage, originally a thatched bakery, with double a bread oven and inglenook fireplace, that supplied bread to the local cottages and farms.
One mile from the centre of Kintbury, on high ground facing south, overlooking its own 5 acres of unspoilt woodland and a stream. A haven for many kinds of wildlife, including deer, which can often be seen below the house. It was built on the site of a small Roman fort and a number of Roman artefacts have been found. Combe Down and Combe Gibbet are just over 2 miles away, with stunning views over totally unspoilt countryside, ideal for ramblers.
The house is 1 mile from Kintbury station, the canal and the river Kennet. The attractive village itself offers many facilities and still has its busy post office stores. Several local pubs serving excellent food.
