A sunny ground floor annexe with rural views on a 60-acre livestock farm.
This bright and airy, south facing, self-contained annexe is part of our 1970's farmhouse. It consists of a large bedsitting room (20'x12') with a good quality sofa bed, the height of a normal bed. There is a pair of Parker Knoll chairs, foot stool, digital TV and DVD player. The kitchen/diner is south facing with a dining table and chairs at the window. There is an electric cooker, microwave oven and fridge with freezer compartment. The bathroom is large and includes bath as well as a separate shower. Central heating is from the main house when needed and/or additional heating from electric radiators. Independent access to the accommodation is via a sunny conservatory added to the front of the main room. All is on ground floor level and suitable for a wheel chair. Please ask for full Access Statement. Babies up to one year old are welcome. There is plenty of space to park. The accommodation is is inspected annually and approved by the Dartmoor Partnership (formerly Dartmoor Tourist Association.)
The accommodation looks out over the garden - which you are welcome to enjoy - with a flat area of lawn, outdoor chairs and table, and views over hilly farmland and woods. You are free to explore our 60-acre farm and be introduced to our herd of pedigree South Devon suckler cows.
Our own fields rise behind the house to give further extensive rural views. Photos show the setting of our property, the view from our hilltop, and some of our cattle. The most distant photo is taken from west of the River Teign. Oxen Park Farm is central in the picture showing its white 'A' gable end.
Ashton is a hilly, scattered parish with the attractive cob-and-thatch hamlets of Higher Ashton (15thC church) and Lower Ashton (River Teign, PO and Manor Inn). Oxen Park Farm is between the two hamlets. It is an excellent place from which to explore. Nearby are footpath walks to the neighbouring villages of Doddiscombsleigh and Trusham - both of which also have pubs. The Teign Valley Golf Club is 1.5 miles away. The River Teign, noted for wild daffodils in spring, is the eastern boundary of Dartmoor National Park and the wide open moors of Dartmoor are a short drive away. Exeter Racecourse and Haldon Forest Park are 4 miles away, just off the A38. The Park has extensive walks, cycle tracks, 'Go-Ape', and cafe. The cathedral city of Exeter or the coast at Teignmouth or Dawlish are 10-12 miles away. From Starcross, on the Exe Estuary, you can cross by passenger ferry to Exmouth which lies at the western end of the 'Jurassic Coast' World Heritage Site.
There is plenty of local information available and a friendly welcome awaits you.
