Ty Clyd in Gwynedd, a cottage in Snowdonia and the North: Ty Clyd exterior

Character cottage, 3 bedrooms, sleeps 5, ideally positioned for country pursuits.

Ty Clyd (up the far end in the first photo) is Welsh for 'Cosy House'. Its living-room together with its kitchen and bathroom, used to be the stables of Brynygwin country house in whose grounds it stands next door to the one-bedroomed Mews cottage. It has its own small secure walled garden with parking conveniently close. A track starts close by into Brynygwin's 15 acres of woodland. Like all of Brynygwin, it is built in natural Welsh stone and is listed as being of special architectural interest. The two upstair bedrooms (single and double) used to be the hayloft - hence the outside stone stairway which is now just an emergency fire-escape. The ground floor twin-bedded room was a harness room and looks inland over Dolgellau to the Aran mountains. All three bedrooms have revealed oak purlin beams, a built-in hanging cupboard, oil-filled electric radiators and a fan-heater. The DOUBLE BEDROOM has a 4'6" double-bed, and a 4' circular butterfly window with two opening quadrants. The SINGLE BEDROOM has a 2'6" x 6'3" bed and, if required, a child's cot. The double bedroom's round window looks out over barn roofs to the New Precipice Walk which many who stay here rate the highlight of their visit for its stunning views over the Mawddach estuary..
The LIVINGROOM is heated by two night storage heaters and a radiant coal-effect heater, and is furnished with dining-table and chairs, 2- and 3-seater settees with deep cushions and ample head-rest, and a Sony TV. French windows open into the porch-cum-conservatory which leads both into the cottage's own small and secure walled garden and into the parquet- floored downstair TWIN BEDROOM and, if needed, a 2'6" x 6'6" folding bed, so enabling the cottage to sleep six.
Also downstairs are the BATHROOM (with bath, Mira electric shower, basin, toilet, fan-heater and shaving socket); and the fitted KITCHEN with electric cooker, microwave oven, fridge, spin dryer , and time-controllable immersion heater.
The view from the kitchen transports you to the breezy heights of Brynygwin's special mountain called Y Garn, the goal of one of the 30 or so walk guidesheets which we have personally researched and printed.
The cottage is equipped for up to 6 people with blankets, pillows, and eiderdowns provided, and, if required, a cot and high chair.

POSITION. Just one mile from Dolgellau to the east, Brynygwin is conveniently placed for walking on the level to its shops or pubs. The old estate driveway is a right of way on foot for those staying at Brynygwin, and it takes you half the way to the town through fields and over a wooded brook before bringing you out onto a wide-pavemented road. One mile in the opposite direction (westwards) from Brynygwin is the delightful George III pub with its cellar bar picturesquely situated on the water's edge at the estuary-head village of Penmaenpool.
