Howlands Cottage in Roxburgh, Ettrick and Lauderdale, a cottage in Edinburgh, Lothians and Borders: Howlands Cottage exterior

Beautiful 2 bedroom cottage in Melrose, stunning views, free Wi-Fi, pets welcome

Beautiful cottage within a Georgian farm steading conversion:

The cottage can sleep max 4 people and has 1 superking double or twin bedroom, 1 single bedroom with full size single pull-out bed for fourth person, a bathroom (with shower) and an open-plan kitchen/dining/sitting room with exposed stone walls. Discount applicable for 2 person occupancy.

Set amidst stunning scenery, the cottage has panoramic views over Melrose and the Tweed valley. There is a private road that runs through the Melrose Golf Course up to the cottage where guests can enjoy a wonderful view of the three Eildon Hills, a famous border landmark and dramatic back-drop to the holiday cottage.

The cosy cottage is built from traditional Scottish stone and is bright and airy inside. Large windows give the cottage great views accross the valley and allow guests to watch the local wildlife outside.

There is lots to see and do in the local area and Melrose plays host to several large events throughout the year including the world famous Melrose Rugby Sevens tournament, the Borders Book Festval and the Scottish Bagpipe Championships to name a few.

There is world-class salmon fishing and mountain biking (x-country and downhill) in the Tweed valley as well as endless walking routes for hikers. The St Cuthbert's Way passes the cottages 200 metres to the east and there are plenty of dog friendly paths on the doorstep for guests who bring their fury friends.

With a rich history, there are plenty of castles and stately homes to explore locally, many of which have fabulous gardens and cafes. Abbotsford House, former home of Sir Walter Scott, is less than 10mins drive away and Melrose Abbey where the heart of Robert the Bruce is burried less than a mile away.

For guests wishing to explore further afield we are within an hour's drive of Edinburgh and the spectacular east coast with sandy beaches, ancient harbours and fabulous sea-food.

We are open all year & our eco-friendly biomass boiler keeps the cottage warm and cosy.
