Herons is located in an enviable spot, nestling in a quiet lane between beach and harbour in the old fishing village. Shops, pub, harbour and beach are a stone’s throw away. Winding alleys and steps encourage exploration with hidden gems around every corner.

Herons sleeps up to 6 in three bedrooms and we welcome well-behaved dogs (2 maximum). The main cottage has a kitchen/diner and separate living room on the ground floor with two bedrooms (one double, one twin) and family bathroom on the upper floor. There is a separate basement annexe which comprises a large utility area and separate large bedroom with ensuite shower room/wc.

The village is extremely dog-friendly but as there are lots of steep alleyways and lots of steps it might not be suitable for the infirm.

Wildlife is abundant and if you are lucky you will see dolphin and minke whale. There are seals and the occasional sea otter and at Troup Head the largest onshore gannet colony and many puffins and other seabirds during the breeding season.

This area of North East Scotland is not yet fully discovered by the tourism industry, giving many opportunities for peaceful meanderings and delightful discoveries. It is a photographer’s dream with fabulous coastal scenery and magnificent, ever-changing skies. The wildlife is a great attraction with several nature and bird reserves in the region.
