Lower Farm House is a 400-year-old traditional Somerset farmhouse in the picturesque village of Lympsham, where you can enjoy a drink on the cricket green, book a tennis court for an hour, or buy local produce in the village shop. It is surrounded by peaceful countryside where farm animals graze, herons, mallards and moorhens bathe and buzzards, owls and woodpeckers fly. There are spectacular views to the Mendip Hills. We are 6 miles from Weston-super-Mare and Burnham-on-Sea, with easy access from J22 of the M5.
The village shop is open each day, but is closed Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday afternoons. It is about ¾ of a mile from Lower Farm House.
The farmhouse has been converted to form three spacious holiday cottages. Woodpecker is our largest with three bedrooms.
Country walks can start from the farmhouse. A gentle climb brings you to the top of Brent Knoll, an ancient Roman hill-fort. with far reaching views over Bridgwater Bay. Cycling, fishing, golf and horse-riding are all available nearby and there are 7 miles of clean, sandy beaches within 3 miles. There is a variety of restaurants and inns within 5 miles. Daytime and evening entertainment can be found at Weston-super-Mare or 40 minutes away in Bristol.
The cottage is fully equipped and self-contained with a small private garden. There is also a large lawned area, play equipment (including trampoline and swings), room for ball games and garden chairs. There is fully controllable electric central heating at no extra cost.
Bedlinen is supplied and beds are made up for arrival.
Children are very welcome in a safe environment away from main roads and traffic. A cot and highchair are available by arrangement. Bedding is not supplied for cots. Please contact us for advice.
The attractive lounge has a woodblock floor, traditional fireplace with electric stove fire, a widescreen, digital TV and DVD player, books and games for adults and children, and many information leaflets and suggestions for visits. Also on the ground floor is the fully equipped kitchen and dining room, with dishwasher, washer-dryer and microwave and a cloakroom with shower and toilet.
There are three comfortable, well equipped bedrooms on the first floor (one spacious family room with 1 king size and 1 single bed and two twin rooms) a spacious landing and a large, luxurious bathroom with toilet, bath and shower over.
Woodpecker Cottage has been assessed as 4 star by VisitEngland. A brochure and access statement are available on request.
Bookings are normally Saturday to Saturday. Short breaks, out of peak season, are Saturday to Tuesday or Tuesday to Saturday. Other dates may be possible by arrangement with late availability or at non-peak times. Christmas bookings are flexible, minimum 3 nights. Please enquire. We make a charge of £20 per week per dog.
